How to read the map

Every player you can pick in Fantasy Premier League is a bubble — around 590 of them across the 20 clubs, with players who have left the league removed. In the Transfers view the area of the bubble is ownership: how many of the ten million managers have him in their squad. The colour is how that ownership moved over the range you pick: green if managers are bringing him in, red if they are shipping him out, grey if nothing changed. GW means since the last deadline and is available from day one, straight from FPL's own transfer counters.

Colour intensity is scaled to the 90th percentile of the period's moves, so a quiet midweek still shows contrast instead of a flat map. Because ownership is compared in relative terms, a £4.5m defender doubling from 2% to 4% is as green as a premium going from 20% to 40% — which is what a bandwagon actually looks like.

Switch to Price and size becomes the player's price while colour becomes FPL's official price-change predictor: bright green is about to rise tonight, bright red is about to fall. Switch to Gameweek and size becomes points scored in the current gameweek, updating while the matches are played.

Availability is on every bubble. A player with an injury or suspension flag shows his official chance of playing next to his name, and the same flag is a filter, a row in the player comparison and a warning on your own squad.

Where does the data come from?

From the public Fantasy Premier League API, refreshed every 15 minutes. Ownership, transfers in and out, prices, the price-change predictor, availability flags and fixture difficulty are all FPL's own numbers; the daily ownership history is compiled here.

Why is the colour ownership and not price?

Because FPL prices barely move: a player changes price on about 7% of gameweeks, always by £0.1m. A map coloured by price would be grey almost all the time. Ownership is the real market of FPL — half the players change theirs by more than 5% every gameweek — so that is what the colour shows. Tonight's price changes get their own view.

What does the chance of playing mean?

It is FPL's official availability flag, set from injury and suspension news: 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% or 0%. A player with no flag is fit. It does not know about tactical rotation — a fit player his manager benches still shows 100%.

What is FDR?

The Fixture Difficulty Rating published by FPL for every match, from 1 (easiest) to 5 (hardest), from the point of view of each team. The strip shows the next five fixtures; a double gameweek shows two boxes and a blank shows none.

Why are some players missing?

Players FPL marks as unavailable — transferred out of the league or loaned abroad — are excluded, because a player you cannot select is not a pick. Everyone else is in, including those not currently in their club's squad, who are flagged.
